A sculptural spiral Character Candle™ inspired by ancient architecture and the quiet geometry of trees.
Designed as both a functional object and abstract art piece. It sits beautifully on a festive table or styled year-round as a modern architectural statement.
Inspiration
This design draws inspiration from the Great Mosque of Samarra in Iraq. Built in the 9th century, the tower’s conical design and iconic ascending spiral ramp wraps upward in a continuous rhythm. That same upward movement echoes the structure of a tree.
The original tower stands 52 metres tall and was once part of the largest mosque in the world. Fun fact: Its spiral ramp was said to be wide enough for a donkey to climb, a reminder that design is both practical and poetic.
This candle is my modern interpretation of that sacred geometry, scaled down, softened, and reimagined as an object for your home.
